Interview with Firesign Theatre archivist Taylor Jessen and more!

Tonight we’re joined in the studio, through the miracle of telephone and radio, by Taylor Jessen, who has for many years been engaged in diligently curating the output of The Firesign Theatre (KBOO was honored and fortunate to be able to run many of the episodes of the Dear Friends series, wonderfully collected on Taylor’s labor of love Dukes of Madness Motors, Seeland Records) Taylor told us about the amazing newly released DVD set Everything You Know Is Wrong: The Declassified Firesign Theatre – 1968 – 1975.

We also heard some of the new-ish-ly rereleased Gerry & The Holograms LP, something new from Coldcut & Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry (with Junior Reid and Elan) on the mighty On-U Sound label, while bits of Charlie Brooker and Chris Morris‘ program Nathan Barley is threaded throughout – plus some weirdo mixing, playing songs at the same time, both accidentally and on purpose. I gave away some tickets to Japandroid and talked a lot.
