Until recently very few Portlanders spoke about, let along fretted over the Critical Energy Infrastructure (CEI) Hub along the North Reach of the Willamette River. But in the last couple years it has become more of a public concern because of the inherent danger of storing 90% of Oregon's toxic liquid fuel in aging tanks, in a liquefaction zone on top of two earthquake faults. Last year the CEI hub was a chief concern of several Portland City Council candidates. Since the election there have been ongoing discussions among the new city council members about what to do about the CEI hub tank farms.
On this episode of Locus Focus we talk with two district 4 city council members - Mitch Green and Olivia Clark - about how the public's concerns need to be addressed. We are also joined by Tom Armstrong, a Supervising Planner with the City’s Bureau of Planning and Sustainability.
