On Wednesday May 7 2025, the UK Parliament’s Scottish Affairs Committee held a hearing entitled: Problem drug use in Scotland follow-up: Glasgow’s Safer Drug Consumption Facility. The Committee was looking at the approach being taken by police and prosecutors toward The Thistle, a Safer Drug Consumption Facility in Glasgow, Scotland, so the witnesses were police and prosecutors: Superintendent Joanne McEwan with Police Scotland, the Right Honorable Dorothy Bain, KC, Lord Advocate, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, and Jenny Hamilton, Senior Legal Manager, Policy and Engagement at the COPFS.
