A tribute to the maverick stop-motion animator who worked with Frank Zappa and influenced a generation of filmmakers

For half a century, Bruce Bickford ran a one-man clay animation production house, constructing surreal miniature worlds in a cavernous Seattle studio and bringing them to life through the magic of stop-motion.  Bickford gained notoriety in the 1970's as the fertile mind behind the Frank Zappa films Baby Snakes and The Amazing Mister Bickford, and was the subject of the award-winning 2005 documentary Monster Road.

S.W. Conser and Bill Dodge interviewed Bickford in 2008, as his re-released magnum opus Prometheus' Garden was being honored at the Bagdad Theater's SuperTrash Film Festival.

Originally recorded 18 August 2008 and edited by Bill Dodge for a 16 December 2008 broadcast.  Bruce Bickford died on 28 April 2019 at the age of 72.
