A View on Youth Incarceration

Join host Isabelle Sinclair in a discussion with Trevor Walraven, co-Founder of the Oregon Youth Justice Project (YJP), in exploring both his 18 years of experience within Oregon's criminal justice system, and the current political movements surrounding incarcerated youth. Topics of conversation vary from the importance of creating space for self-reflection to the nature of Measure 11, a ballot measure that imposes mandatory mimimum sentences and allows youth over the age of 15 to be sentenced as adults.

On the Oregon Youth Justice Project: As the YJP states, their aim is to reduce the criminalization and incarceration of young people, particularly youth from disenfranchised communities. They provide services for youth sentenced within the adult system, particularly those sentenced under Measure 11. More information about the project can be found here: https://OJRC.info/youthjusticeproject
