A deeper look behind the day's top stories
The UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs began its 60th annual meeting in Vienna, Austria on Monday, March 13. Delegates meet for a full week. Some national delegations and nongovernmental organizations also sponsor side events during the CND meetings.
The CND has traditionally been critical of harm reduction programs, and of drug policy reforms such as legalization of medical or adult use marijuana. A growing number of nations however are voicing their dissent and challenging a global drug control paradigm based on prohibition of some drugs. In this indepth report, we listen to two of those voices: New Zealand and Mexico.
