The Willamette River is a confluence of social, ecological, economic and historical significance and yet we continue to struggle to protect the very place that sustains us. But we are beginning to see a crack in the iron wall that has ruled the lower Willamette, created a superfund site, the CEI Hub and created an area that put 16 fish and the orca whale on the endangered species list. This wall has prevented human access and things like the Frog Ferry.
On this episode of Locus Focus, we talk with Sarah Taylor, founder of the Braided River Campaign and board member of the Portland Harbor Community Advisory Group, about how we can break through the iron wall of industrial development along the North Reach of the Willamette River.
