AM News and Public Affairs Director
Oversees and coordinates all programming from 7 am to noon on weekdays.

Derric is KBOO's AM News and Public Affairs Director as of November 2016. He is taking the place of Kathleen Stephenson, who retired after 31 years of working with the station.

He says, "As a media professional I've witnessed the broad transformation of the ethics and purpose of broadcast since the late 1990's. I've seen the effects of deregulation via the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and the rise of monopolies in TV and radio. I've witnessed massive layoffs and a reduction of the voices being heard.

All of this has made me keenly aware of the value and importance of KBOO as a shining example of what radio should be and what media professionals must protect. KBOO is a lone voice in what was once a city of activism and a place that must resist the pull towards globalization and instead tread fearlessly towards localization and community."
