Solar/Wind energy, music of occupy, Movie Moles: Take Shelter, Book Review: The Steal

Joe Clement hosts and we hear:

  1. Bill Resnick interviews Al Weinrub, who coordinates the Local Clean Energy Alliance in the Bay Area. They discuss the emerging great struggle over who will control sun and wind energy development.
  2. Clayton Morgareidge and radical musicologist Brad Duncan discuss the music that has emerged out of the Occupy movement.
  3. "Shoplifting spans race, class, gender, and age and the reasons behind it are equally as diverse. What remains consistent however, is the separation of pathology and punishment by class and race; with perhaps surprising results." Iven Hale reviews "The Steal: a cultural history of shop-lifting", by Rachel Shteir.
  4. In light of the apocalyptic mood of 2012, Joe and Frann Michel review Take Shelter, a psycho-thriller about an Ohio man's developing sense of ominous events after having apocalyptic dreams. He's compelled to build-out the tornado shelter on his property, alienating his family and community in the process, and discovers his estranged mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia when she was younger.
