Severe weather emergency shelter is available in Portland when the city declares a Severe Weather Notice, based on a temperature at 25 degrees Fahrenheit or below for several nights in a row. A list of severe weather emergency shelter providers has been posted at rosecityresource dot org. If you’re in the city you can also get more information by calling 211.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting a feline friend, this week is your last chance to take advantage of the Auld Lang Syne Adoption Special at the Cat Adoption Team shelter. Tomorrow morning, Saturday, In Other Words Books and Community Center is hosting Big Fat Love Yoga, a space for self-identified people of size to experience and practice yoga in a comfortable environment with a knowledgeable teacher. Many choices for how to participate in each pose will be offered. The class is open to all levels and abilities and will run from 9 to 10:30 AM at In Other Words, which is located at 14 NE Killingsworth Street in Portland.
