Staying alive shouldn't require refinancing your home, moving to a country with socialized healthcare, or making decisions on whether to keep cancer at bay - or to get expensive treatment. I am one of 2,800 people in the United States in the United States with Myelofibrosis under the age of 50. The total number of people in the US with this rare blood cancer is around 18,000.  Specialized medicine for this type of cancer is made by Incyte, a pharmaceutical company.  The amount that the company makes on the 18,000 people who need it to survive is around $2.59 billion dollars a year (over $144,000 per person).  The same medicine outside of the U.S.A is a fraction of the cost.
