The end of World War I, 97 years ago
To commemorate Armistice Day (11/11), KBOO news is taking a day off and we will be playing a special program: Sojourner Truth Radio.
Armistice day, marking the end of World War One 97 years ago. Between 1914 and 1918, 16 million men and women were killed, often for scraps of land no longer than a football field. While many gave into nationalistic pride, some remained steadfast in their fight for peace. We speak to activist and author Selma James about World War One and US socialist and 5 time presidential candidate Eugene V. Debs.
And, the Dallas 6. We speak to Shandre Delaney, mother of Carrington Keys, an incarcerated person in the Pennsylvania about her son s fight to end prisoner abuse at a State Correctional facility.
Also, Frank Tamborello of Hunger Action Los Angeles joins us in studio to discuss homelessness, hunger, and the suffering of veterans on our city streets.
