THIS SUNDAY!

Celebrate the NoFest with KBOO and Friends, at distributed locations in St. Johns. Saturday, June 6/27.

No.Fest is an interdisciplinary arts curator in St. Johns, for PDX talent. All free, all ages, all day, annually, No.Fest promotes new music and arts in hitherto unknown and unusual venues. Bringing professionals, youth and community together to one stage, with an eclectic mix of performer, for one day, No.Fest boosts the cultural and economic horizon of St. Johns, radiating out to Portland at large, while preserving the aesthetic and community here in.

Click here for full schedule and details.

The Waterfront BluesFest(http://kboo.fm/node/3344) is 7/2-7/5 - We need volunteers for both of these events - talk to Ani (or Jenka, before June 29th) if you'd like to help out. There are also signup sheets posted on the volunteer bulletin board at the station.

Listening sessions - required for all on-air volunteers who did not attend any of the Marilyn Pittman trainings in March. If you DID attend the March trainings, but you'd like some more feedback on your show, please come to one of these sessions.

Bring an aircheck (ie. a recording) of your show. Monday June 29th from 10 -12 am Or Tuesday June 30th from 6 - 8 pm.

ATTENTION! All programmers who have files on the net drive at KBOO.

The net drive will be taken offline THIS COMING WEEK (June 30th), and between now and then, we need you to set up an account on the new fileserver. You should have received by email a document describing the new fileserver, and giving you instructions to transition to the new server (you also received a copy of this document in your mailbox at the station). If you did not receive a copy of the document, see your staff supervisor (Jenka, Trillium or Chris) to get a copy.

To receive a login to the new fileserver, you should see the appropriate staff person for your department (Jenka, Kathleen or Chris), and they will tell you your login and password. Please read through the documentation to learn how the new system will work.

PLEASE MOVE YOUR FILES OFF THE NET DRIVE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

We now have DVDs available for sale for $1 (see Jenka or Trillium), which hold 4.5 GB of data, so you can burn your files onto DVD to save them.

When logging into the computers with your new login, please REMEMBER TO LOG OFF when you are finished. Otherwise, the next person to use that computer will have access to your files and settings, and could change or erase them by mistake.

How can our paid staff do the best job to help our audience and our volunteers? You're feedback is needed with the attached employee evaluation forms. All staff receive an annual evaluation, and what you say makes a big difference. It's time to do evaluations for Andrew Geller, John Mackey and Toni Tabora-Roberts. Please return to Arthur Davis' mailbox or to manager@kboo.org by Friday July 10th.

Weekly Volunteer Opportunities Village Building Convergence Special - Thursday July 30th 9 am - 7 pm

KBOO volunteers recorded lots of workshops and lectures at this year's annual Village Building Convergence in June, where people gathered at neighborhood sites throughout Portland to engage in intersection repair, natural building, and other forms of placemaking. Throughout the day on July 30th, you can hear excerpts from this exciting event reclaiming urban spaces to create community-oriented places, planting the seeds for greater neighborhood communication, empowering our communities and nurturing our local culture.

Trillium needs help from people who know digital editing to edit locally-recorded lectures for broadcast this summer (health care town hall, a lecture on saving endangered languages, a talk on women in prison, and others) Would you like to sharpen your digital editing skills? We have lots of uncut material that needs some attention, so it can make it onto the air. Also, each morning (late evening), a nationally syndicated program needs to be edited down from one hour to 43 minutes. Great practice! Beginners are welcome!

Membership department seeks volunteers to help with post-Drive office tasks. Flexible scheduling, no experience necessary, computer skills optional.

DemocracyNow! broadcasting is looking for board operators 3:45-5PM weekdays. Interested Volunteers who have completed Intro to Audio and Audio Production and board operator training should contact Jenka Soderberg (503-231-8032 or pmnews@kboo.org) for more information.

There are currently two vacancies on the Board of Directors. Those with experience in finance, fundraising, web development and marketing are encouraged to apply. Directors must volunteer at least 5 hours a week. Board of Director meetings take place on the 4th Monday of each month. Applications are available at http://www.kboo.fm/governance
