We spend the hour with founder Shafia Monroe, who has built connections between Black communities and county health workers to address the infant mortality rate in African and African American families -- the highest in our region.

Her latest is Shadow Lives: The Forgotten Women of the War onTerror. She'll talk about the extreme conditions American Muslims accused of "terrorism" are subjected to while awaiting trial. Held in solitary confinemen they and often their families are subject to " Special Administrative Measures" or SAP'S that serve to further isolate the accused.
