World Arts Foundation, Inc. presents its 31st consecutive Tribute to Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The entire program will honor Martin Luther King, Jr. by showcasing a variety of outstanding expressions in song, oration, dance and drumming.

Invited guests will include a variety of talented local and regional performances by: The Mel Brown B3 Organ Group, DaNell Daymon & Greater Works Chorale (Seattle/Renton, WA), Derrick McDuffy and Kingdom Sound, local student groups and choirs from Portland Public Schools, the nationally acclaimed Jefferson Dancers and much more.

Lifetime Achievement Awards: is a program centerpiece, which recognizes the contribution of individuals and organizations for exemplary community service. They have distinguished themselves, and have “gone the extra mile” to give the greater Portland metropolitan community a higher quality of life. Our 2016 recipients include: Clara Peoples & Geneva Knauls (Posthumous), Minnie Bell Johnson, Matthew Barnett, Rose Mary Anderson, Jim Pettyjohn, Hurtis & Dorothy Hadley, Mel Brown and Paul Knauls.

Dreamers Village and Bazaar: compliment the full day of voices, music, and purpose with a full range of arts, crafts, services, educational materials, food, photographs, films, and a cultural-rich network of arts and education advocates.

“Keep Alive the Dream” will be video streamed on the Internet through the facilities of Portland Public Schools, Television Services. Portland Community Media (Cable Television), and KBOO-FM Radio will broadcast the live program in real time.

$5.00 donations or five units of non-perishable foods will be collected at the door and given to local food banks.
