Veterans for Peace Members on their Support for the Iran Nuclear Deal

Host Roberta Hall's guests are Leah Bolger and Bart Bolger, who founded the Linus Pauling Chapter of Veterans for Peace and are active in national VFP. Leah served as national president of VFP. They discuss why they are involved in an ad campaign to publicize the importance of the recently achieved Iran Nuclear Deal. This is a multination agreement that will verify that Iran does not develop a nuclear weapons program and will lift many of the economic sanctions that have been placed on the country.

They discuss how citizen phone calls and letters to our two US Senators could help them decide to support the plan, which has wide international support but needs support from Congress. Both Leah and Bart retired from 20+ years service in the Navy in 2000.

Since this program was recorded on Wednesday, August 26th, Senator Jeff Merkley has indicated he will support the Iran Nuclear Agreement, and Senator Wyden appears still to be leaning toward a NO vote. Leah and Bart Bolger, suggest that listeners call Senator Wyden's Portland office at 503-326-7525 to register their support, and ask him to support the deal also.
