Members of Portland's largest street band, All the Apparatus stopped by the station to play some tracks off of their CD and to tell us about their up coming show on July 5th at The Doug Fir.. DK and Mona had a long talk with Fortunato about what movies have opened this week, and their opinion on Man of Steel. And we did stumped them for once with a Mystery Movie Theme. We even let Pinball Keith lose on the turntables for a short set and worked in some Bob and Ray.

Some great electronic music on today's show. First, two Parisian lads who have settled here in Portland, Exotic Club. And, up from the Bay Area, the amazing Metal Mother.  Who are appearing in town together later this week, but came here to the Sampler to preview how rockin' and cosmic their show will be. Meanwhile, Sabrina has fired up her van and dropped  Fortunato and Pinball Keith  over by SE 12th and Hawthorne, to look at some old and new pinball machines. Where they'll meet up with, former computer designer for Williams Pinball, Greg Dunlap. It all proved to be fun and educational.

Followed by an exciting mix of electric and accoustic music of Milo Hayden, or, as he is known on Soundcloud, Mister Moo. Portland's beloved cartoonist David Chelsea wil also be dropping by to tell us about his new book  Everybody Gets It Wrong!

Happy Birthday to KBOO! We're releasing a 7"!

KBOO Community Radio was born in June, 1968; a healthy 10 watt baby that would eventually grow up to change the idea of what radio could be: who is on the air, what kind of content is provided to listeners, and how radio waves are valued.
KBOO was the local outlet for the Listener Supported Radio Movement, led in part nationally by Lorenzo  Milam, and locally by a group of Portlanders who wanted to hear classical music on the radio.  In 1968 we went on the air, and provided not only the music and cultural programming you couldn't hear anywhere else on the dial, but coverage of the burgeoning protests against imperialistic wars and for racial equality, women's rights and other social justice movements of the time.
