He currently teaches Foundations of Education, Race-Culture-Power, Paulo Freire, and the Middle East in Global Perspective. Dr. Wahab serves as a senior advisor to the Minister of Higher Education in Afghanistan, and has been spending about five months annually in that country since 2002. He just returned from his most recent stay there and will talk about the current situation there.

Joy was an author of the recent report by the OCPP that clearly shows, using US Census data, that our Immigrant Communities boost local economies where ever they form, including right here in Portland, Orygun.
Polo is working hard to redefine "immigrant" to mean "Newcomer in Our Community," a new term that avoids the negative stigmatism associate with the word "immigrant", and puts a positive spin on the contributions our newest community members have always given to our city and state.

RE: Youth Domestic Violence
One big factor in domestic violence is our culture of militarism. The US military devotes huge sums marketing militarism to youth. Their root assumption is that violence is the ultimate problem solver. Once recruited, youth are taught specific violent techniques. Statistics show that domestic violence is worse in areas that have military bases.
One solution to this violence is tax resistance. Refuse to pay federal taxes until military spending is dramatically cut.
