Rare tracks from Don Joyce and Negativland

Tonight on A Different Nature, we'll be featuring rare tracks from Don Joyce and Negativland.

Don Joyce joined Negativland after the Contra Costa California experimental collective joined him on his KPFA radio program Over the Edge (probably one of the longest running free-form, audio collage shows still in existence).
A long time visual artist, Joyce was inspired by Negativland's approach to collage in the audio medium and some began utilizing cut-and-paste tape collages to his program and subsequent Negativland recordings. He brought a dizzying array of cut-up sounds and recontextualized agitprop to Negativland's sound, where before they were more in line with Industrial Music, Musique Concrete, etc..

Unceasing Sea

It's April Fools day on the Ubu Hour.. so instead of the usual absurdist comedy and silliness,  we bring you THE UNCEASING SEA, a dark, serious radio drama about a couple near the end of their life, as they listen to the ocean and ruminate about life and death, language and climate change.

And we bring you the plunderphonic radio theater peice BREATH DEEP.. which delves deep into madness and psychological thrills...

And as an extra special treat, we have BATTLE OF THE MEMBERSHIP DRIVE PITCHERS, where you'll hear many of your favorite KBOO fund raisers duke it out on the playing field raising money for the station and giving out the phone number in an exciting sports competition...
