We're talking pre-Beatlemania monoaural goodness, with plenty of rareities and their essential compositions that would lay the groudwork for everything that would happen later in their careers. We continue to talk about rape culture, men's role in both reinforcing it and breaking it.

This year we’ve been focusing a lot on violence against women. And, you can count on us to keep that focus. We’ll further our discussion by addressing the role men play, how they can help and organizations that are facilitating men’s education and partnership in stopping violence against women, including Jana's Campaign and Battered Women’s Support Services. Battered Women's Support Services Executive Director, Angela Marie MacDougall, and Dr. Curt Brungardt, a founder of Jana's Campaign and Jana’s stepfather, will join the conversation.

Musicians of the San Francisco Bay Area

The San Francisco Bay area is well known as the center for the renaissance of popular rock & roll. It was also the west coast heart of traditional and acoustic music. The Good Ol' Persons, Kathy Kallick, Laurie Lewis, Jody Stecher and Kate Brislin are just some of the luminaries who made the bay area a vibrant music scene. On Friday, March 22nd, 12 noon to 3 pm, I will be presenting a program devoted to the great acoustic SF Bay musicians who are at the heart of the traditional music revival. I will have CDs by Kathy Kallic's new band and Eric & Suzy Thompson as thank you gifts for your essential support of KBOO, community radio.

PlayWrite, INC. "Using the power of performance in art to transform the lives of youth at the edge"

Learn about PlayWrite, a local non-profit founded 10 years ago which works with youth ‘at the edge’ to create original plays, powerful vehicles through which the voices of young people are heard. We welcome in the studio Lyndsay Hogland, program director, Alyson Osborne, coach/actor  and Ryder Lynn and Francesca, 2 young women who recently participated in a play writing workshop.

"PlayWrite coaches are drawn from the Oregon theater community, and are trained to work one-on-one with each young person. Within the intense structured activities of PlayWrite workshops, these young writers create original art. In the process, they learn to trust, manage, and heal their own emotional experiences; to work collaboratively; and to contribute positively to their communities.
