The Radio Lost and Found Holidaze Spectacular

Air date:
Thu, 12/25/2014 - 10:00pm - Fri, 12/26/2014 - 12:00am
Short Description:
"..not on Christmas.."

Say you're completely burnt out from meeting work deadlines before the holiday shutdown, shopping for presents for everyone on your list and finally getting Christmas over with for another year. You just want to wind down, toss back a few dozen white russians and fade off to sleep watching a bad movie.

But enough about me.

This is the post Xmas soundtrack for you.

"...The power of this music is so absolute on the participants that it induces trances.."

Air date:
Thu, 12/11/2014 - 10:00pm - Fri, 12/12/2014 - 12:00am
Short Description:
Radio Lost and Found is one this week. What are you waiting for?
Radio Lost and Found picks up where it left off two weeks ago, with the kids realizing something's afoot in the sitting room and that that toupee's not fooling anyone.

Things left out last time are played this week and things I won't have time for tonight will just have to wait. Life is all about waiting. Hopefully with music inbetween.

Radio Lost and Found Presents: No Thanks Giving

Air date:
Thu, 11/27/2014 - 10:00pm - Fri, 11/28/2014 - 12:00am
Short Description:
Having almost nothing at all to do with Thanksgiving. You're welcome.
Radio Lost and Found returns again, having languished in its icy prison, ready to unleash some more deviant sounds on your trembling earbulbs.
There will be nearly nothing having to do with Thanksgiving played on the air. Maybe one or two items that can be obliquely connected to that holiday we're all tired of - but that's it. One or two, tops, I promise.
I do have quite a lot of new sounds to play for you, though, so do tune in.

Short Description:
Radio Lost and Found In Its New Time Slot
We've moved. I've moved. It's been moved. No idea why writing in the context of a radio show's schedule, it seems proper to use the royal 'we', but there you have it.
After five years of once a month on Friday night, Radio Lost and Found finds itself in a bi-montly situation(!). They say it's just a phase.
Radio Lost and Found can now be found every second and fourth Thursday night, from 10pm to Midnight, where you can get lost in a two hour mix of confusing records and perplexing found audio.
So, this is an inaugural show, of sorts. New time, new ears, etc.
I DO hope you'll tune in!

Pretty whacked-out set, as part of KBOO’s four hour freeform special in solidarity with hurricane ravaged WFMU.
Lots of fun. Spinning with Erin Yanke and VJ Beauchamp (I think their sets will be archived at KBOO’s site soon).

This was a sort of radio show about radio, with lots of stuff related to radio. Clever concept, innit?

The Norton Family - Marimba Melodies

Crazy show! No laptop (long story) made me have to rely more on found vinyl and CDs and I think the results were absofab!
Was also fun because I had Alejandro, SW Conser, Mr. Trout and Jonny hanging out with me for the better part of the show. Their mania inspires me.
Also, lots of really nice callers. I really appreciate listeners!

Fun show. Lots of nice callers tonight and got to hang out with my crazy radioactive friends. I may put the extended Violent America mix, which dominated the first half of the show, up as a separate mix somewhere, since a few callers and online chatters requested it.

Radio Lost and Found

Here we are, with another episode of Radio Lost and Found - and the last one of 2010.
At about the halfway mark, I mixed a mediascape of Senator Bernie Sanders heroic, though sadly ignored voice of reason filibuster speech to the Senate - trying to dissuade his colleagues to stop counting their cash long enough to vote no on the Bush/Obama tax cuts for billionaires. It's like hearing an obituary for the American dream - at least the one we're all supposed to live in - as opposed to the one that the wealthiest 2% get to live in.
Sad, but worth listening to (Sanders' speech, not necessarily my mediascape).

Blame it on the heat.
A somewhat rude and snarly show: After some lovely little interludes with Portland’s Billygoat and Australian tweaktronica artists Qua, the show takes a number of weird left turns into seamy neighborhoods. We visit P*rn for the Blind, a segment I’ve been doing on my other program, Kill Ugly Radio. We then ignore Jack Klugman and get totally into Punk Rock for the remainder of the show. I played some of my favorite punk tracks from the earlier days, as well as a few notable later tracks. I finally got around to playing the odd little 7″ that I found crammed in my copy of the Dicks/Big Boys split Live at Raul’s – a not-so-great record by an Austin contemporary of those two aforementioned bands by the name of The Vendettas. Some more United Mutation, because I love them, and some punk from Germany and Italy.

Here's another Radio Lost and Found for this month. Lotsa fun. Lots of people coming in just to say hi and nice callers. Lots of Firesign, who are in town as of this writing, some Bran Flakes, who will be in town on July 3rd (and hopefully coming to your town!) and some Brian Routh, on half of The Kipper Kids (CDBaby link). I also did some live, in the studio Lennon looping.

*While most Portlanders will recognize the name, this album comes from an old pizza joint called The Old Organ Grinder Pizza, known for it's large Wurlitzer organ, bedecked with lights and such, hurdy gurdy man with real, live monkey and some not-very good pizza. The building is still there, but sadly, the auto detailer or whoever now owns it didn't see fit to incorporate the organ and machina band. You can read about it here.
