“PURPLE MIND” to Premiere at Hollywood Theatre in Memorial Day benefit screening for IVAW

“Purple Mind” will screen once only at 3 p.m, May 30th, at the Hollywood Theatre, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd., Portland, Oregon 97212. A longer run may be possible, depending on response.

What do Memorial Day, an Iraq War Veterans group and an independent feature film all have in common? This coming Memorial Day the three will come together at Portland’s historic Hollywood Theatre to encourage folks who don’t normally discuss the Middle-east wars or Veterans’ issues to begin a conversation about how we are all affected by the
current wars.

At the center of the conversation is Landfall Productions’ 96 minute drama, “Purple Mind,” the story of Roy Matthews, who returns from one war only to fight another war at home, a war against the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that threatens to destroy both Roy and hisfamily.

The film stars Will Shepherd, Emily Bridges (“Voyage of the Unicorn”), and the charming 11 year old Brighid Fleming (“Gamer”). Shot on location in and around Maupin, Oregon, with a supporting cast of great Portland area actors like Corey Brunish (“Leverage”) and a passionate volunteer crew, the film brings together subject matter normally reserved for documentaries into a compelling family drama. The result is a little discussed perspective on the difficulties faced by returning veterans, their families and communities all over the country.

Purple Mind is “AN IMPORTANT STATEMENT. ... Will Shepherd is reminescent of a young Jack Nicholson. Emily Bridges is exceptional.” - Gary Wolcott, Tri-Cities Herald.

Post-screening Q&A with the director, cast and veterans from IVAW.
