Arguments for the case Friedrichs versus California Teachers Association are set to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court this Monday.
The case is another in a series of legal challenges throughout the country targeting public-sector unions in recent years.
The issue surrounding Monday’s case deals with whether mandatory union fees violate the First Amendment.
In response, nurses from Washington to California will gather on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court Monday morning to warn that relaxing the union fee system further poses a significant threat to public health.
