If you’re planning on attending the Oregon State Fair in Salem this weekend, make sure to stop by the Community Action Area, where you can learn about the work of community-based organizations across the state. You can also learn about Oregon College Access Challenge Grant Program, designed to help adults to either start or return to college. The “College is Possible” booth will be located in the Community Action Area, Booth 1012, between the amphitheatre and the Jackman Long Building.

Also! this weekend! You’re invited to the 10th Annual Portland Zine Symposium! The Portland Zine Symposium is a free, two day conference and social gathering, celebrating independent publishing, and featuring tables and tables full of zines, independently published works, and other DIY items for purchase. It all happens on Saturday from 10am until 5pm and Sunday 10 to 4 at Portland State University’s Peter W. Stott Main Gym, 930 SW Hall in Portland.

Tomorrow, Saturday, in downtown Portland: families of all sorts are invited to a real-life Where’s Waldo? Scavenger Hunt, a fundraiser for the Portland Public schools. The man in stripes will be wandering around downtown and your job is to find him, and a checklist of items to find, just like in the books!
The fun will start at 11 AM in front of the Courthouse on 6th Ave between Yamhill and Morrison.

This weekend in Eugene, the Community Center for the Performing Arts / WOW Hall will be open to the public for a Busker Fest featuring many genres of music and the return of the much-beloved Rummage Sale!
This event is a fundraiser to support CCPA operations and donation of additional items is appreciated.The WOW Hall doors will be open to the public from 2:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on Saturday and from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Sunday. The hall is located at 291 West 8th Avenue in Eugene.

This Saturday evening from 7 to 10 pm, Sisters Of The Road Cafe will host a multi-media, interactive reportback on the US Social Forum and the reinvention of Detroit, featuring live performances by Mic Crenshaw and Danny Kelly and photography from local artists. Local representatives from Jobs with Justice, PCASC, Sisters of the Road, Rising Tide, Creating Democracy and others will be on hand to bring context to the relevance of the Forum here in Portland. Food and drink provided. Again, that’s Saturday evening at at the Sisters Of The Road Cafe, located at 133 NW Sixth Avenue in downtown Portland.
