recurring Monday events with Woman focus

At 9am every Monday morning In Other Words Bookstore and Women's Resource Center offers Hatha Yoga classes  with Heather.  Sliding scale donations are accepted, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds.  Basic Hatha is a great foundation for all types of yoga. Using simple instructions, students will be guided through a low-impact practice that improves balance, flexibility, and strength. The mind-body-spirit connection will be nurtured with sequences accessible to people of all ability level.

On Tuesday mornings at 9am In Other Words offers an integratedYoga as a Transformative Art & Way of Being -an evolutionary and integral practice of Hatha, Kriya and Intuitive Movement -with Elaina Beam. In Other Words Bookstore is located on the Southeast corner of  NE Killingsworth and Vancover

Also on Mondays at 9am, Quest Center offers a free Restorative Yoga Class facilitated by Lindsay Ball, Registered Yoga Teacher. Come discover the benefits of restorative yoga! This open level class is for everyone who wants to move gently, tune into breath and body,  and rest in poses that open you to deep relaxation. This class is FREE, but due to limited space (3), it is first come, first serve.  Call 503/238.5208 for more information. Quest also offers a support group for managing Stress and Anxiety Acupuncture Group for Women Living with HIV on Mondays at noon.  Call 238.5208. Every Monday afternoon from 4 to 7pm there is a Program and support group for Women Living with HIV and their children. Women of Wisdom strives to support, educate, and empower positive women. After the rally you can attend a Staged Reading Presented by The Beirut Wedding World Theatre Project. "Honey Brown Eyes" by Stefanie Zadravec, is a story about the ethnic violence in Bosnia. The production is being held at 7pm this evening in the Artists Repertory Theatre Alder Stage on 1515 Southwest Morrison Street, downtown on Broadway, and is presented through special arrangement with Abrams Artists Agency and the Jewish Theatre Collaborative.

If you live in Portland and haven't seen "Girls Rock!" yet, then you're missing out! Filmed at our very own Rock and Roll Camp for Girls, this documentary will prove to you how absolutely rocking and feminist Portland really is!!  As part of the Feminist Filmmakers Series and in Celebration of International Women's Day, In Other Words Bookstore is hosting a screening of the documentary tonight at 7pm.  Marisa, a staff member form the RNRC4G will be at the screening to answer questions.  Contact katie@inotherwords.org for events.

As part of the MFA Lecture Series every Monday night at 7.30pm, Portland State University's Art Department is welcoming J. Morgan Puett.  J. Morgan Puett is widely known for her distinctive fashion design and installations. Her projects ambitiously engage communities, localized culture, and historical sites, drawing from traditions of costume and labor, personal appearance and adornment. Puett Recently opened Mildred Lane, a long-term collaboration with Mark Dion inspired by "a desire to critically re-imagine the space between environmental practice, artistic domesticating, and socially engaged research."  All lectures are free to the public and are held in the PSU Shattuck Hall Annex at 1914 SW Park Ave, Room 198.

 PSU's Art Dept. offers free public Art lectures almost every Monday night of the school year. Local, National and International, interdisciplinary artists visit Portland to speak about their work.  The PMMNLS is supported in part by: PICA, Cooley Gallery at Reed College, Disjecta, Le Happy, Wealth Underground Farm, Bear Deluxe Magazine, Northwest Film Center.
