Are you interested in helping to create a more resilient city, ready to respond to the challenges and opportunities of peak oil and climate change? TransitionPDX is a recently formed group dedicated to permaculture ethics and a mission to establish the Transition Model in the Portland metro area. The Transition Buzz Group, focused on outreach and eduction, will meet this evening from 7 to 9 pm in the Che room at St. Francis Church and School, located at 1131 SE Oak in Portland.

Tomorrow evening, Tuesday the 24th, you are invited to a premiere screening of the documentary film The Rescue, which deals with child soldiers in Uganda. Members of Invisible Children, an organization working to end genocide in Uganda and raise awareness about child soldiers, will be present. There will be a vegan potluck to start off the evening at 6 PM, with film at 7 PM and discussion to follow. It all goes down at The Green House Collective, located at 4407 SE Tibbetts Street in Portland. Your voluntary donation will benefit Invisible Children.

Starting this Wednesday the 25th, and running through April 26, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm in Woodburn invites you to its 24th annual spring Tulip Festival. You can enjoy 40 acres of tulips and daffodils, as well as a crafters market, wooden shoe-making workshops, and other fun activities. The farm is open daily at 33814 S. Meridian Rd in Woodburn.

If you're on your bicycle this Friday morning in Central Portland, stop by the Steel or the Hawthorne Bridge for Breakfast on the Bridges. Breakfast on the Bridges reaches out to bicyclists and pedestrians once a month with free coffee and pastries as a way of saying thanks for not driving and keeping our morning commute enjoyable!  Get involved or just show up!

This Saturday, and every Saturday through April 25, the Multnomah County Public Library is offering Citizenship classes. Participants  can learn about the process of becoming a U.S. citizen and prepare for the citizenship interview. These classes take place Saturday mornings from 10:30-12:30 at the Holgate branch of the library, located at 7905 SE Holgate Blvd in Portland. Registration is required.
