Community Calendar – weekend of May 9th and 10th, 2009

Good Day! This is Natalie with the KBOO Community Calendar on the weekend of May 9th and 10th. Information is also available at the kboo.fm website.

Portland celebrates National Train Day on Saturday. The “World's Most Famous Steam Locomotive” will be on display at Union Station, along with free entertainment and giveaways 10AM - 3PM.

The Friends of History at PSU will also be tooting those train horns, as they present a multimedia program including a documentary on the Transcontinental Railroad. Showing and discussion takes places on Sat. 6:30- 9:30 pm at Cramer Hall Room 494, 1721 SW Broadway.

All aboard!

This weekend, the University of Oregon Center for Intercultural Dialogue, will host a conference of the UNESCO (United Nations Education Science and Cultural Organization) network on interreligious dialogue for intercultural understanding. This is the first time that UNESCO chairs will meet on U.S. soil.
In conjunction with this meeting, the center presents a symposium titled "Ethics, Religion and the Environment”, which is free and open to the public. Details and schedule are available at http://unesco.uoregon.edu/conference

SCRAP (School and Community Reuse Action Project) celebrates the opening of its new location with jazz, food, crafts tables and a Junk2Funk fashion show. People of all ages are invited to get ‘scrappy’ on Saturday 6-8 pm  at 2915 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. scrapaction.org.
