Greetings Cascadia! My name is Steve, and this is the KBOO Community Calendar for Wednesday, June Third, 2009.

Are you interested in the preservation of our species?  Yes?  Then join the Portland Zeitgeist Movement!  This group intends to restore the fundamental necessities and environmental awareness of the species through the avocation of the most current understandings of who and what we are, coupled with how science, nature and technology (rather than religion, politics and money) hold the keys to our personal growth.  They will meet tonight, June 3rd at 6:30 PM at the McMenamins at 1526 S.W. 10th in Portland.  This is an organizational meeting; help get Portland Zeitgeist off the ground!

Come and remember Tienamen Square with poetry and music, tonight, at the First Congregational Church, 1126 SW Park Ave in Portland.  Tonights memorial features the Portland VOcal COnsort, the Dickenson String Quartet, and poetry readings by local personalities.  For more information, visit ArtixPdx.com. That's A_R_T_I_X_P_D_X dot com.

There is a Round Table Discussion tonight organized by Ako Yamakawa on the indigenous rights struggle to get the US military out of Okinawa.  Ako is a masters student in the PSU Conflict Resolution program.  She has been working with the leadership of the Okinawan nonviolent resistance group and is telling Americans about the Okinawan desire to demilitarize and end the occupation of Okinawa by foreign troops. THe Roundtable will be held at the Whitefeather Peace Community, 3315 N Russet St.   More info at http://www.whitefeatherpeace.org or call 503 327 8250.
