The Low Income Energy Assistance Program may be able to help you with your PGE, Pacific Power, Northwest Natural Gas, or oil bills this year. The Hollywood Senior Center is offering help in registering for this program at two signup sessions this month, today and next Monday the sixteenth, from 1:00 to 4:30 in the afternoon both days. To make an appointment, or for more information about the Energy Assistance Program, call the Hollywood Senior Center at 503.288.8303.

The Oregon Sierra Club invites you down to the Hollywood Theater this evening at 6:45 for a premiere screening of the documentary Coal Country. This movie is a dramatic look at modern mountain top removal coal mining in Appalachia, and will give you the opportunity to hear from working miners, activists, company executives, and families living in the region. A briefing and discussion will follow the screening.
Again, it all goes down tonight at 6:45 at the Hollywood Theatre, located at 4122 NE Sandy Blvd in northeast Portland.

Tomorrow evening, Tuesday the tenth, you're invited to a lecture by Andrew Revkin of the New York Times. Revkin will talk about the natural and human challenges of supporting a population that’s expected to reach 9 billion by 2050, as well as about how we can restore certain environmental conditions and create a more resilient future. The lecture will take place tomorrow evening at 7:30 in the Smith Memorial Ballroom at Portland State University, located at 1825 SW Broadway in Portland. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required and are available from the PSU Box Office.

Portland Books to Prisoners mailing nights happen on Mondays & Tuesdays 5-8pm at 1112 NE Morton, between Dekum and Ainsworth.
If folks want to get involved, but can't make mailing nights, there are lots of other volunteer tasks that need to be done, and book donations are always welcome.

1112 N Morton is just east of MLK Jr. Blvd, and west of NE 15th. To get there, take bus lines #75 or #8 to Dekum, and go south on Bellevue, Durham or 13th to Morton, which is a short street that connects all three.

Food Not Bombs puts Portland's wasted food to good use by serving hot vegan meals to the community. Tomorrow, Tuesday, they will be serving at 5:30 PM at Colonel Summers Park, located at SE 17th and Taylor in Portland.
