Jan Haaken talks with psychoanalyst and anti-torture advocate, Steven Reisner, about Zero Dark Thirty. Zero Dark Thirty is a film made by Kathryn Bigelow starring Jessica Chastain that fictionalizes the man-hunt for Osama Bin Laden. The film is  controversial for its neutral, if not affirmative portrayal of torture as a route to capturing Osama Bin Laden. Steven says that the torture scenes were accurate in their depiction of torture, but omitted the role of health advisors in creating and over-seeing the torture program. His bigger concern has to do with the way that the question of torture is moved out of emergency hypotheticals and made a normal tool of conflict resolution.

Steven Reisner is a candidate for the presidency of the American Psychological Association and a vocal critic of psychologists who participate or else lend credibility to torture as a tool of war.
