OPAL's Low-Income Fare Campaign

Host Jo Ann Hardesty interviews representatives from OPAL about their low-income fare campaign. OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon builds power for Environmental Justice and Civil Rights in our communities. They organize low-income communities and people of color to achieve a safe and healthy environment in which to live, work, learn, play and pray. They also strive to create opportunities for meaningful participation in decision making.

Bus Riders Unite, a project of OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon, is a membership organization launched in 2010 that represents transit-dependent people. Bus Riders Unite recognizes and values the diverse cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and abilities of our membership body. We seek to build a democratic, multi-lingual, multiracial, all-inclusive community-based organization. Our leadership and membership are committed to lifting up the voices of transit depndent people and people whose voices are not commonly heard.
