Christina is a creator of incredibly intricate paper cut out art!

Christina is a local based artist specializing in fine paper cutting. She self taught and armed with a multitude of little knife blades and heavy weight paper, I love the interlacing of the lines

of a simple leaf.  She is a tad o.c.d. she creates her deisgns with a computer and help from Mother Nature herself, including leaves, branches, and flowers.  Each design requires patience and

quiet reflection of the symmetry that nature provides.

As an artist, she uses paper as a medium to help create a visually appealing spotlight on the symmetry of life, whether it be leaves, or flowers, or even particular lines that she sees as flowing a certain way…she will do a sketch first generally, then move onto scanning that sketch into the computer and she cleans it up a bit and mirror and rotate the image until she feels that she has that magic image.  She will then print that image and begin cutting.

She recently did a multiple layered cicada for a friend of hers, using all white paper.  "It was fun to do the layout for that one, adding and subtracting as I see fit for optimal shadowing."

Most of her favorite pieces tend to be the much tinier complex  lines, the more compact designs.  These do require much more patience and time, but the outcome is stunning.  She constantly has new ideas for new projects, but with a full time job as well, they will just be ideas for a while.  She has a list of many ideas to work on this summer, and will try to work on her art everyday.
