my very first kboo blog entry
Well, it's been about 2 months since I first started as PR & Outreach Coordinator here at KBOO. Time sure whizzes by when you're having fun and outreaching! I do believe that I started at the busiest time possible for the department, with immediate rites of initiation granted at Pride Weekend and the annual Waterfront BluesFest. The summer isn't over yet so lots more fun stuff to go...
First of all, thanks for all your warm welcomes and support as I've seen you around the station. Please do stop by and introduce yourself! If you are interested in learning more about the KBOO Outreach Department and how you might contribute don't hesitate to drop by, email or call. I'm always on the lookout for volunteers interested in staffing the KBOOth and also might have opportunities to work on future KBOO events and programs.
Next I wanted to update you all on what's going on here at KBOO and out in your community. Looking forward there are wonderful things on the horizon. In the near future we have several community events that we're Co-Sponsoring in the next couple of weeks including the Hawthorne Day! Street Fair, Green Empowerment's Party at the Pittock, a weekend long Grassroots Media Camp as well as the Belmont Street Fair. Upcoming KBOO happenings included special on-air programming "Katrina, Two Years Later" from 7am - 7pm on Aug 29, the annual Book & Record Sale on Sept 8 and Boo Bash on Halloween. As always, visit the Outreach & Events page for more details about upcoming events.
