A community radio station serving the South-west township, or Soweto, in South Africa, is currently facing a crisis in governance.
The station began during the anti-apartheid movement in the late 1980s, and became a voice for the oppressed people living in the townships of South Africa.
Now, a corporate coalition led by South African Breweries is attempting to turn the community station into a commercial enterprise.
KBOO spoke with community media supporter and anti-apartheid activist David Mathebula from South Africa by phone
