An eclectic mix of African sounds.... The first half hour featured Cameroon's Francis Bebey. Here is a link to a good article about Bebey>> http://www.rfimusic.com/artist/world-music/francis-bebey/biography We then moved on to traditional sounds from Guinée (Takadja, Mory Kanté, Sididki Conde, Kanté Manfila) followed by roots-based music from Gambia (Ifang Bondi, Foday Musa Suso). We also previewed songs from new releases by kora player Sean Gaskell (Seattle) and Portland's Njuzu Mbira --who will be appearing together this Friday, June 29th at the Tabor Theater Lounge,4811 SE Hawthorne. Then we heard a track from the new release of Zimbabwean mbira master Musekiwa Chingodza, who will be performing at Mississippi Pizza next Tuesday, July 3. The program concluded with selections from Ghana....
