(Prepare thyself for the experience of LONNIE HOLLEY

TONIGHT at midnight on THE OUTSIDE WORLD--
LONNIE HOLLEY performs LIVE with (and in addition to): Karla MiLugo on vocals and whistling, Tim DuRoche on drums, Andre St. James on bass, Reed Wallsmith on alto sax and Juniana Lanning on laptop soundscapes.
If you missed his performance last week on our live remote (on a stage! with a live audience!) from the Pickathon, tonight he's here in the KBOO studios, with an even more intimate experience. He is an experience and he is very real. His visual and sonic art is the stunningly intimate act of processing experience, of sometimes horrible, sometimes beautiful life into art (so that it can touch us all)
Lonnie Holley seems like he is always ready to tell his story to anyone, always looking for new ways to expand his expressionistic telling of his ongoing story (and ours). In the short time I've spent with him (and his dedicated tour mgr and co-hort Matt Arnett), Lonnie is constantly picking up a leaf, a stone, junk, the detritus of our world that we step over or walk past, and within hours (or minutes), a new sculpture exists somewhere (I have a feeling the various pieces he left around the grounds on Pendarvis Farm during the Pickathon will be there for a long time)
Though he's only been touring for a year or so, Lonnie has already toured with Deerhunter and Bill Callahan. He's played with members of Animal Collective, the War on Drugs, Black Lips, Dirty Projectors, Julia Holter's band, Jenny Hval and her band, Richard Swift, Ben Sollee, Kelly Pratt (Beirut, Arcade Fire, the Antlers), Stevie Nistor (Daniel Lanois, Danger Mouse, et al) and others, but tonight we learn this is the first time he's improvised with jazz artists!
Also joining us will be the aforementioned tour manager and friend, Matt Arnett, who's father is Bill Arnett, the man largely responsible for introducing Lonnie to the world at large. Check out this story from the New York Times that first got me interested in contacting him:
