The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) 101
Who is ALEC and how do they purchase our democracy?
The American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, is the venue through which global corporations and state politicians rewrite state laws that govern your rights. These so-called "model bills" reach into almost every area of American life and often directly benefit no one but the huge corporations that drafted them.
Last Friday, Attorney Lauren Regan from the Civil Liberties Defense Center gave an ALEC 101 presentation in preparation for the February twenty ninth Day of Action.
