What's next for Venezuelans, republican critique of wage-slavery, Movie Review: Snitch, left press

Tom Becker hosts this Old Mole and we hear:

  • Bill Resnick talks with Michael Fox (not Michael J Fox!) about the death of Hugo Chavez, the re-shuffling of State power in Venuzela, and what challenges that face the popular forces that at one point put Chavez in office.
  • Jan Haaken and Mike Snedecker, normally our Left and the Law duo team up in a slightly different capacity to review the new movie Snitch, starring the wrestler-cum-actor The Rock as a father who goes undercover for the DEA to get his son out of prison.
  • Joe Clement talks Alex Gourevitch about his recent article in Jacobin Magazine "Wage Slavery and Republican Liberty", which argues for a repraisal of early American history that shows how workers appropriated the ideals of the American Revolution (i.e. republicanism) to agitate against wage-slavery AND radically equalize property.
  • Tom reads from the Left Press.
