Joseph Gallivan interviews Miles Cleveland Goodwin about his new paintings

On Tuesday March 5, 2013, at 11.30 am, Joseph Gallivan interviews Miles Cleveland Goodwin about his new painting show "A Long Road Home" at Froelick Gallery which is up from March 5 - 30, 2013

From the press release: In A Long Road Home, Miles Cleveland Goodwin's oil paintings are informed by the people and environs of his childhood in the Southern U.S. Overcast skies and barren, darkening fields painted in viscous washes of black and umber hedge in stretches of dusty road that lead to distant suggestions of towns. A restrained palette invokes dusk or early morning, and a haze seems to hang over these rural scenes. Many of these works seem to be images from a travelogue, the difficult route referred to in Goodwin's title.  In the largest painting, a lonely, desolate road stretches in to an uncertain distance. An old man, leaning on a cane and hidden reserves of strength, strides forward with purpose. He is a recurring figure in Goodwin's work, a companion on the way to reclaiming a sense of place, home and memory.

Froelick Gallery (714 NW Davis Street, Portland, Oregon 97209, 503 222 1142 www.FroelickGallery.com) will host a preview reception with exhibiting artists Miles Cleveland Goodwin and Ritsuko Ozeki on Wednesday, March 6th, 5:30 - 8:00pm.
