Poetry Slam at OSP!

UHURU SA SA 8th ANNUAL POETRY SLAM!

On September 1, 2012, Prison Pipeline went behind the walls of the Oregon State Penitentiary to record the OSP Uhuru Sa Sa 8th Annual Poetry Slam.  It was aired on October 15 with hosts Reggae Bob & Karen James and the Rap, R&B, Rock, Blues and Slammin' Poetry of the men incarcerated at OSP!

Uhuru Sa Sa is an African-American organization at Oregon State Penitentiary, Salem, Oregon. The organization’s annual events include MLK Jr., Juneteenth, and Kwanzaa. They work with community organizations and churches to help troubled youth and curb violence. On September 1, 2012, Uhuru Sa Sa showcased its 8th annual Poetry Slam, an opportunity for creative expressions in song, music and poetry by the men incarcerated at OSP.
