Starhawk on the Village Building Convergence

Host Sue Supriano interviews Starhawk, writer, environmental and social justice activist and witch about her participation in the Village Building Convergence.

Starhawk will take part in the 11th annual Village Building Convergence in Portland, Oregon, presented by City Repair. This year's theme is "Urban Alchemy."
"Visions of Hope for Times of Chaos," an evening talk
How do we create and manifest the vision of the world we want in the midst of challenging times? When old structures fall apart, openings are created for new possibilities. Permaculture teaches us to value disturbance, which is a necessary condition for regeneration to occur. How do we apply the lesson to our lives, our communities and our global policies?
Talk is preceded by a 5:30 vegan community dinner (included in admission) and a 6:30 Urban Alchemy puppet show! Look for booksigning at the event too.
Location: 2800 SE Harrison, Portland
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Cost: $20

Wednesday, June 1
"Magical Tools for Community-Building," a workshop at VBC, Portland, Oregon, presented by City Repair.
Communities are built of a nexus of relationships—and relationships are built on communication and trust. Starhawk shares her knowledge of magic—ancient psychology and techniques of awareness and consciousness change—to help us learn more effective ways to communicate in groups, embrace conflict constructively, and create an atmosphere of honesty, energetic support and accountability. She shares material from her forthcoming book, The Empowerment Manual: A Guide for Collaborative Groups, and offers tools for resolving disputes and dealing with difficult people. As our groups become more effective, we become more powerful agents of change and regeneration.
Look for booksigning at the event too.
Location: 2800 SE Harrison, Portland
Time: 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Cost: $25
