Manning Marable on By Any Means Necessary: Malcolm X

Manning Marable – By Any Means Necessary: Malcolm X (lecture)

Manning Marable died on April 1st of this year. He was 60 years old. At the time of his death, Marable had completed a biography of activist Malcolm X, entitled Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention. In the book he outlines why the investigation should be reopened. The book claims the New York Police Department knew Malcolm X's life was in danger but turned the other way in the face of threats. Police deny a cover-up. In his last interview, Marable told CBS News he wanted the Justice Department to reopen the case.

Manning Marable was a professor of public affairs, history and African-American Studies at Columbia University. He founded and directed the Institute for Research in African-American Studies.
