Where do Trans folk fit in Gay Pride?

Is there a T in Gay Pride? Portland’s Gay Pride wrapped this weekend. While this year’s theme was “Unity” one group was notably less visible than previously—trans folk. Why did trans march organizers decide to postpone the event—renamed Gender (Free) For All until August 1st? Do trans people really belong in the LGBQ community anyway? Especially if they no longer identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual—or if they never did?

Tune in to Gender Blender, Tuesday, June 16 2009, as co-hosts Rebecca Nay and Jacob Anderson-Minshall address these questions and more. They’ll be speaking with organizers from the Gender (Free) For All; Laura Calvo, a local trans political activist; and a representative from the Harry Benjamin's Syndrome International an organization that contends “true” transsexuals have an intersex condition and are not members of the queer community.
