Stephanie Potter interviews community economist Thomas H. Greco, Jr. about his most recent book The End of Money and the Future of Civilization.  Greco is an authority on the subject of monetary systems and is one of the world’s leading experts in describing alternative or complementary currencies, self-regulating systems  that facilitate “reciprocal exchange” without the use of government legal tender.      Kirkpatrick Sale, author of Human Scale “If anything could save this civilization from the calamity to which its economic madness has led it—the unrelenting pursuit of materialism, the starkly inequitable division of wealth, the despoliation of the earth for profit—it would be the widespread adoption of the wisdom embodied in Tom Greco’s clear and forthright new book."      Bill McKibben, author of Deep Economy:   “Maybe you've noticed a slight bit of turmoil in our national and global financial system? This book cuts to the very core of the trouble--and points toward several pathways toward that might allow us to slowly climb out of the pit into which we've stumbled.”        On Monday, Nov 2, he'll speak at the First Unitarian Church, 1011 SW 12th Ave Portland.   Doors open at 6pm and Lecture at 7pm.   $10- 20 donation -- no one refused for lack of funds.   (Co-Sponsored by the Community Exchange Network of Portland and Bright Neighbor.)
