Polar Inversion in the United States Has a Possible Link to Artic Ice Melt

Much of the U-S is currently being hit with extremely cold weather in what’s been termed a ‘polar inversion’. While meteorologists are careful to point out that no single weather event can be linked to climate change, multiple studies have shown a possible link between the melting of arctic ice and the cold weather events along the jet stream.

Professor Jennifer Francis of Rutgers University is the co-author of one of those studies. She spoke with KBOO’s Jenka Soderberg about her study of the impact of arctic ice melt on the jet stream.
