A court ruled against the birth control mandate in the health care law. Why? "Religious freedom."

Last week, a federal court ruled against the contraceptive mandate in the Affordable Care Act -- the first court to do so. The reason? The mandate, said the court, violates an employer's religious liberty. For a nation that famously erected a wall between church and state, we spend an inordinate amount of time dealing with the consequences of religious belief in public life. The Constitution says that there shall be noreligious test for public office, but try running for President as an atheist and see how long you last.

With Joe away, Abe looks at the long religious tug-of-war in our secular nation.
