Laurie Mercier and Jamie Partridge discuss resistance to attacks on the US Postal Service

Old Mole Variety Hour

Laurie Mercier talks with retired letter carrier Jamie Partridge about his recent participation in a hunger strike in protest of Congress's decision to starve the US Postal Service by mandating that it prefund retiree health benefits 75 years in advance. The hunger strikers and other activists in support of the post office demand that the mandate be repealed, that overnight single piece first class mail delivery be restored, and that other cuts to mail sorting, hours, and jobs be suspended or restored. Laurie and Jamie discuss attacks on the USPS as part of broader attacks on unionized workers and efforts to privatize public services.
