Nan Wigmore at NATO protests

Nan Wigmore, long time activist and all-around ballsey lady, tells about her experience while in Chicago for the NATO protests in May of 2012. Nan was "arrested" (hustled off in an ambulance and left to fend for herself overnight on the streets of Chicago, a town she doesn't know and where she has no friends or relatives to rely on), harassed, and ignored by the Chicago Police force when she asked for their help. No one in their right mind would ignore a 75 year old woman, alone on the streets, who is asking for help. When the police do it, after stealing her medications for life threatening seizures along with her walker (she is recovering from some serious illnesses and injuries), it is not just elder abuse, but elder abuse perpetrated by the state. Way to go Chicago Police! You really showed us where your heart is...

Listen to this delightful telling of Nan's participation in the fundamental liberty we (used to) enjoy as citizens of a (formerly) free country.

Nan's account is mixed with music from David Stills, the Pretenders, Ani diFranco, and more.

Enjoy and feel free to get pissed off!
