Healthcare Cuts Protested Today

Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber outlined his plans for health care and education overhauls in his State of the State address today.

Speaking to a crowd of about 700 at the City Club of Portland, Kitzhaber asked for civilian leaders to support his plans. One of his proposals was to seek a proposal allowing Oregon to opt out of the federal No Child Left behind program. Health care professionals and members of SEIU local 503 were protesting the event, taking issue with proposed cuts to care providers compensation and health care coverage.

KBOO’s Chris Andre spoke with health care professionals Rebecca Sandoval and Megan Atkins about their concerns.
