Occupy Portland on the air....

In solidarity with the now 20-day-old demonstration Occupy Wall Street, Portlanders will begin their own “occupation” of downtown Portland Thursday, October 6 at noon.

And this is only the beginning….

Waterfront near SW Ankeny and Naito Parkway to Pioneer Courthouse Square. This is solidarity with Occupy Wall Street, The Resistance is on the move – At last -  thousands have been staying near the Wall Street stock exchange to protest the corruption of Washington politicians, misdeeds of big banks, and the cancerous reign of corporate lobbyists. So it’s ‘Come On Down’:   Bring friends, family, passion, and supplies for the night because we will be in this for the long haul. Once we are done for the day we will then march to an undisclosed location in the city and set up for the night.   The march will kick off at 2:30 p.m. from Waterfront Park, traveling west on Burnside and south on Broadway until it reaches Pioneer Courthouse Square. Once finished at the Square, the group will go east on Taylor and return to the Waterfront to begin the occupation.   If you plan on joining the demonstration, it shouldn’t be hard to find. Get more info on the objectives of the movement and ways to stay safe while demonstrating at the Occupy Portland website and Facebook group (currently boasting more than 9,000 members).   If you’re just hoping to avoid the chaos, stay out of downtown, and keep in mind that bus and Max lines will likely be affected.
